Morning!

I thought I'd share my news with you! I have a new nobble - to add to my collection of 3! I am due to see my rheumy nurse on Friday after my disastrous consultation with my "consultant". (He said that everything was fine on MTX and to keep on taking the tablets!!)

Little did we know that 4 days later I would have a flare up AGAIN - This one lasting 2 weeks and leaving me having to take my rings off (I love my rings) and it left a blood blister it was that tight!! - I had to wait 4 days for the swelling to go down enough so I could remove the ring!! I now have another nobble on my middle finger, 2nd joint! Nice - not - I cant grip and I cant even hold a pen - god knows how I have worked every day except 1!

So Mr Consultant, MTX doesnt appear to be working! Can I please have some drugs that do help me - I've only been asking since July!

I'll let you know if I have success!

Hope you all are ok.

Lxx

Oh, good luck Louise! Hope your rheumy nurse is more sensible than your consultant.

It`s horrible when your rings are too tight. My wedding ring had never been off my finger since Jan 8th 1972 until I had to go to A & E to have it cut off.(ring, not finger!). I had to wait until the swelling settled, then have my ring re-sized.

Take care,

Kathleen x

Sometimes these consultants don't actually listen to what we are saying, which is really sad. I do hope the nurse can help you. I have a few nodules on my arms and hands - and a few more which have come and gone again. Hope you soon get some relief from the pain.

Hi Louise,

Having just had a disastrous appointment myself with a locum "consultant" I can sympathise with you!
I hope the nurse can help.
I had to have my wedding and engagement ring enlarged soon after being diagnosed.

hi Louise,

hope you get some help with the Rheumy Nurse on Friday,

Methotrexate hasn't worked well for me either ( well it has brought my inflammation down but not enough )

i have my appointment with Consultant next Tuesday so will see what's in store for me then.

my wedding and engagement rings have been sized more times than i can remember .. lol, due to the fact that my weight has fluctuated over the years.

i must admit i'm having trouble writing now and holding my fork to eat not sure if the colder weather is making it worse.

let's know how you get on,

Suzanne x

Hi ya,

At times I have gone into mega lump production mode! It is rotten!

You can have them removed by surgery if very troublesome but they do grow back I am told.
All the best with getting the appt/ meds sorted

Hi Louise,

Talking about nodules. Strangely I have not had any, although I have been on MTX for at least 15 years ago. What I get are lots of age spots. (My back is covered with them).
I had them looked at at my GP surgery yesterday, and the doctor told me, that I am having them, because I am on immune suppressant drugs, it`s certainly news to me. She told me to keep an eye on them, as they can turn nasty.

Have any of you noticed changes in your skin? What prompted me to see the doctor was, that my husband had an age spot, that broke out and started bleeding. He had a biopsy, and unfortunately he has been diagnosed with skin cancer, malignant melanoma, the worst type. He now has to have it cut out, which needs skin grafting and have a CT scan to see, if it has spread elsewhere.

I am very happy to see, that Jenni and Jean are back, I have missed both of you.

Love Merete

Just thought I'd let you know that I went to the rheumy nurse and she has changed me to the injection, gave me a depo, took blood and reassured me that its not all in my head and I am just one of those awkward ones that nothing shows up in the blood and referred me to OH!

My son came with me so I felt I has support and he sat there and listened to Sarah saying that I must learn to delegate - so here I am at work with my son! Bless him - its cost me a full English breakfast from the cafe but at least I can sit down (we own a newsagents!)

I'll have to wait for my delivery of mtx and a nurse to show me what to do then I'm all set!

Thanks again for your support I appreciate it so much.

Hello Louise

That brill news glad the nurse put your mind at rest as I know how you feel as well.
Let your Son run after and give chance for the injections to work

Good luck and try and rest a little

hmmm funny skin and RA seem to go together eh merete?

You know that the MTX makes you super sensitive to sun light.

get that sun cream going....

also you might be interested to read this thread- it seems funny blotches on the MTX can be an issue.
